The Griffiths Scales of Child Development — 3 rd Edition (Griffiths Ill) is the newly published and updated test from the Griffiths Scales of Mental Development. The Griffiths Ill is a child friendly measure which assesses 5 main areas of childhood development. It can be administered to children O —5 years 11 months.
To become an accredited user participants are required to complete:
- Part I: the new user e-module (available on ARICD website) prior to attending Part Il (Please note this takes 6-8 hours to complete, payment for this course is made to ARICD on the website)
- Part II: attend and complete a 3 day accredited face to face training course.
- Part III: Following attending face to face course, participants will be required to assess at least 5 children (2 with developmental delay) and present on one at the follow up day.
*This needs to occur before you are permitted to use the test and order equipment.
A Part Il face to face accredited new user course will be run at Tumbatin Developmental Clinic at the Sydney Children’s Hospital (SCH) for 3 days in February 2026. The course will consist of tutorials on the theoretical and practical aspects of the Griffiths Scales as well as opportunities for supervised practice in the administration of the scales to typically developing children. There will be some discussion regarding testing children with developmental problems. Those who successfully complete the course and e-module will obtain a certificate and be registered as accredited Griffiths Ill users by The Association for Research in Infant and Child Development in the U.K.
The course will be run by Dr Debbie Perkins (Child Health Doctor), Dr Carolyn Cottier and Dr Vanessa Sarkozy (Developmental Paediatricians), Subodha Wimalaweera (Clinical Psychologists) and Hannah DeBoam (Clinical Psychologist).
** The number of training places are limited. Please note places are filled based on application details not on first come first served basis. Completing the Part I e-module does not guarantee a place on this course.
